Achieving stream restoration goals depends on many factors, many of which are difficult or costly to measure. Developing monitoring plans that are tailored to tracking ecosystem response to restoration projects is essential for determining project success. RDG provides our clients with an array of project monitoring services. From baseline condition documentation through post-runoff sampling, RDG tracks ecosystem response through physical and biological monitoring. We work with our clients to establish monitoring plans that can be orchestrated by personnel ranging from professionals to volunteer school groups. Monitoring techniques may be as simple as establishing photo points to document project area changes through time, to more complex plans comprised of channel surveys, water quality measurements, and aquatic macroinvertebrate sampling that track how the stream environment responds to restoration treatments.
Monitoring Services:
- Stream, river, and wetland corridor surveys using RTK GPS, total station, and laser level.
- Establishing permanent survey networks tied to elevation control for repeatability.
- Sediment sampling.
